Pastor Tony Evans announces that he’s STEPPING DOWN from ministry for falling into ‘sin’

A giant in ministry is stepping down as senior pastor for falling into “sin.”

Pastor Tony Evans, the longtime pastor of the Dallas megachurch Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship church announced via a letter posted on the church's website that he is stepping back from his ministry due to sin he committed years ago.

Although, the exact nature of the sin was not describe, he did make it clear that he did not commit any crimes.

However, Dr. Tony Evans did state that he had discussed his "sin" with his children, church elders, and his new wife, Carla Crummie.

In the letter the 74-year old pastor stated, “The foundation of our ministry has always been our commitment to the Word of God as the absolute supreme standard of truth to which we are to conform our lives. When we fall short of that standard due to sin, we are required to repent and restore our relationship with God. A number of years ago, I fell short of that standard."

While this "sin" was committed "years ago," it is unclear why it became a point of contention only recently.

Nevertheless, in an additional statement, church leadership stated that lead associate pastor Bobby Gibson and the church elders will provide more details in the future.

Pastor Tony Evans founded Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship nearly 48 years old. He's written numerous books, including the New York Times Best Seller, "Divine Disruption: Holding on to Faith When Life Breaks Your Heart," which he co-authored with his children.

In September 2023 in a heartfelt announcement, it was revealed that Dr. Tony Evans was engaged to Carla Crummie, years after the passing of his first wife, Lois. Dr. Evans and Carla Crummie were later married.

Please keep Pastor Tony Evans, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, and his family and friends in prayer during this moment of profound restoration and healing.
