Gospel singer, Kathy Taylor, retires as Minister of Music at Windsor Village UMC in Houston after 38 years of service

Gospel singer, Kathy Taylor-Outley, has recently retired as Minister of Music at Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston after 38 years of service.


Kathy Taylor is a powerful gospel singer, known for such gospel classics as “Corinthian Song” and “oh How Precious.”


Many will also recognize her for her early work with James Cleveland and the Gospel Workshop of America.


In her retirement ceremony during Palm Sunday at Windsor Village, US Congressman Al Green presented Kathy Taylor with a commendation and had flags flown over the US Capitol in Kathy Taylor’s honor.


Also, Martha Castex-Tatum, mayor pro tem of Houston presented Taylor with an official proclamation, the highest civilian honor in the city and stated that March 29, 2026 will officially be "Kathy Taylor-Outley" in Houston.


An emotional Kathy Taylor thanked her husband and her 3 children before passing the “worship leader” baton to Minister Rise’ Joiner-Peters.
