The National Baptist Convention elects Dr. Boise Kimber as its next president, suceeding Dr. Jerry Young



Congratulations to Dr. Boise Kimber!


On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the National Baptist Convention, USA elected Dr. Boise Kimber as its next President at the 144th Annual Session in Baltimore, Maryland.


Rev. Boise Kimber received 69% of the votes.


Four other candidates for president had led a campaign against Dr. Kimber, but they were found ineligible for the ballot. These 4 candidates were


- Rev. Alvin Love (Chicago),

- Rev. Tellis Chapman (Detroit),

- Rev. Claybon Lea, Jr. (San Francisco),

- Rev. James Sampson (Florida)


Dr. Kimber is the current Secretary of the Board of Directors and the Pastor of First Calvary Baptist Church in New Haven, CT.


He will succeed Rev. Jerry Young from Mississippi who has served as President for the past decade.


Dr. Young is the pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. He's been president for two five-year terms and cannot run for a consecutive third term under the denomination’s current bylaws.


The National Baptist Convention USA is the largest Black denomination in America. It is based in Nashville, TN. The National Baptist Convention has an extensive legacy in civil rights.


Congratulations to Dr. Kimber! Let's pray that he's able to effectively lead the next phase of the National Baptist Convention and help to lead more people to Christ.
