SHOCKING! 'American Idol' alum, gospel singer Mandisa found dead at 47!




Mandisa, the gospel singer who rose to fame as a contestant on "American Idol," has died.


Mandisa's father, John Hundley, confirmed her passing to media outlets, saying that her death was a total shock.


In 2006, Mandisa, whose full name is Mandisa Lynn Hundley, competed on season five of "American Idol."








Then, in 2014, she won the Grammy for best contemporary Christian music album for "Overcomer."


She was also nominated for a number of Dove Awards. One nomination was for Best Short Form Video for the video "Lose My Soul" with TobyMac and Kirk Franklin.


Mandisa had been transparent about her struggles with weight and depression.


In 2022, she released a memoir called "Out of the Dark: My Journey Through the Shadows to Find God's Joy."


Mandisa was only 47 years old. No cause of death has been revealed.
