Rev. AR Bernard steps down as his son, Rev. Jamaal Bernard, assumes leadership of Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn

A historic leadership transition has taken place at the Christian Cultural Center (CCC), one of the largest and most influential congregations in the United States.
On Saturday, September 20, Rev. Dr. Jamaal Bernard was formally installed as the new Senior Pastor of the Brooklyn-based megachurch, succeeding his father, the esteemed Rev. Dr. A.R. Bernard.
The installation service drew prominent clergy from across the country, including Pastor John Gray and Pastor Dale Bronner, who joined thousands of members and guests to witness the momentous occasion.
Rev. A.R. Bernard, who founded CCC in 1989 with a handful of members, has spent more than three decades building it into a spiritual home for over 35,000 congregants. Under his visionary leadership, the church became a nationally recognized center for faith, community outreach, and civic engagement.
CCC has long been known for its commitment to education, social justice, interfaith dialogue, and economic empowerment—making it not only a house of worship but also a vital community resource.
Beyond his work at CCC, Rev. A.R. Bernard is a respected author, teacher, and thought leader. He has served on numerous boards and advisory councils, providing spiritual and strategic insight on issues at the intersection of faith, culture, and public policy. His influence has extended far beyond the pulpit, earning him recognition as one of the most impactful Christian leaders in the nation.
Now, with the installation of Rev. Dr. Jamaal Bernard, CCC begins a new chapter. Dr. Jamaal, who has served in various pastoral and leadership roles within the church, brings a fresh vision while honoring the legacy established by his father. His appointment ensures continuity of mission while preparing CCC to meet the evolving needs of a new generation of believers.
