Pastor John P. Kee Steps Down as Senior Pastor After 'Severe Injuries'



PRAYERS continue to pour in for Pastor John P. Kee who has stepped down as Senior Pastor at his New Life Fellowship Center (NLFC) in Charlotte, NC.


The news was originally shared on January 28 from NLFC administrator Sheila Lakin via social media.


While Pastor John P. Kee is on medical sabbatical, Pastor Shelby Talton will assume executive pastoral leadership duties.


While the social media post did not specify the exact nature of Pastor John P. Kee's illness, it did mention that he has sustained "severe injuries" and was recuperating in an "undisclosed" medical facility.


The Durham, North Carolina native started New Life Fellowship Center in Charlotte in 1995 after receiving a prophetic vision. He has been the senior pastor since the church's inception.


It's been a rough start to 2024 for the gospel legend. On January 2, 2024, he lost his mother Mrs. Lizzie Shannon Kee.





Pastor John P. Kee is one of the most well-known voices in gospel music. He's responsible for such gospel classics as "Show Up, "Clap Your Hands," "I Shall Do," and "Stand" among many others.


In 1995, Pastor John P. Kee and the New Life Community Choir were nominated for a Grammy for their album SHOW UP.


In 2007 Pastor Kee was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame.
