CONGRATULATIONS to THE CLARK SISTERS! Today, the Recording Academy announced its distinguished list of recipients for the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award. Among the honorees include the iconic gospel group, THE CLARK SISTERS!
In their official announcement, the Recording Academy stated that The Clark Sisters- Jacky, Denise, Elbernita (aka "Twinkie"), Dorinda, and Karen – have been "taking the world by storm since the early 1980s. Credited for helping to bring gospel music to the mainstream, the Clark Sisters are considered pioneers of contemporary gospel."
In their press release the Recording Academy explained, "The Lifetime Achievement Award is a 'Special Merit Award' presented by the Recording Academy’s National Trustees to recognize performers who, during their lifetimes, have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording,”
It remains to be seen whether the ceremony will be a reunion of all of the Clark Sisters, including Denise who left the group in 1986.
Other honorees for Lifetime Achievement include Gladys Knight, NWA, Donna Summer, Tammy Wynette, and Laurie Anderson.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday February 4th during GRAMMY WEEK 2024.
