Fantasia is FINALLY ready to commit to a full gospel album.
The 40-year-old talented vocalist detailed plans to release new music in a video shared across social media.
In the video, Fantasia described how she is no longer “running” from the gospel genre.
She said, “God has been telling me to do a gospel album for years, and I’ve been running."
Fantasia’s last full album release was 2019’s Sketchbook, which features a dozen tracks.
In 2016, she released the gospel-inspired song "I Made It." featuring Tye Tribbett.
The North Carolina native has deep gospel roots.
She grew up singing gospel and has teased audiences at her R&B concerts with gospel medleys.
She even performed with her mother, Diane Barrino, in a Thanksgiving special on BET's Bobby Jones Gospel.
This is not the first time that the American Idol winner has announced that she's doing a gospel album; however, after her latest gospel performance on American Idol, she seems to be fully committed to a gospel project.
She recently released a recording of the song "Have Your Way," which she recently performed on American Idol.
Fantasia has not shared a release date for her aforementioned gospel album.
However, her unique voice, testimony, and gospel roots, it is certain that the gospel community will welcome Fantasia with open arms.
