Bishop Jakes took to social media with a heartfelt message honoring his wife and reflecting on the power of their shared journey:
“43 years ago, I found a jewel in the sand. Although the billows have rolled, and at times, the lightning has flashed, there have been far more moonlit nights and romantic sunsets than we could imagine. This 43rd anniversary is especially meaningful because I came so close to missing this moment. I’m thankful that I’m here. But, more thankful I get to spend it with you. Happy Anniversary to my beautiful bride, my jewel on the beach!”
Married in 1982, Bishop T.D. and Serita Jakes have stood side by side as partners in life and in ministry. Together, they have built one of the most influential churches in the world- The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas—and raised five children who carry on their legacy.
In a time when long-lasting love can seem elusive, their relationship stands as a beacon of Black excellence, spiritual strength, and unwavering devotion.
